How Can You Help?

The Salvation Army could not do all that it does, without the help of hundreds of volunteers giving their time and talents to make a difference in the lives of others. The broad scope of Salvation Army programs provide many diverse and rewarding opportunities for volunteer service. Some of these include serving food to families at Thanksiving, visiting shut-ins or the hospitalized, tutoring a struggling student in an after school program or serving on a canteen at times of disaster. Other opportunities exist to work behind the scenes in clerical duties, sorting food or clothing for distribution or manning a red kettle during the holidays. There are many opportunities for service. These can be tailored to meet the needs of the individual and or group wishing to volunteer.

Do you belong to a civic group, church or other organization? Churches and civic groups assist the Army in many ways. These include fund raising and service projects such as Adopt a Family, Angel Tree toy collections and helping with Back to School items for needy kids. Service Clubs provide considerable help with the Army's red kettle campaign at Christmas.

Does your company encourage community service? Corporations often allow employees to contribute time to a chosen project during working hours. Our Service Extension Program, a statewide network of volunteers helping to deliver emergency social services, is always looking for individuals interested in serving their community.

These are only a few of the many ways individuals and groups can be a part of the Army behind the Army. Everyone is invited to learn more about Salvation Army volunteer opportunities in the Tri-Cities. Please call The Salvation Army nearest to you for more details. Civic groups and corporations should call 509-943-7977.

Last year, The Salvation Army touched the lives of over 10,000 Tri-City residents. Will you help us? Please volunteer.
